OUR PATH
We met at Business School and both went on to spend the next 15+ years working in marketing in the healthcare and consumer packaged goods industries. During our careers in the corporate world, we saw how people interact with their environments and the power of thoughtful design in daily life.
Design has always been a passion of ours, and during the Covid pandemic, we found ourselves helping friends and family reimagine their homes. Whether it was carving out functional workspaces, making living areas feel more inviting, or simply bringing a sense of calm to a chaotic time, that experience reinforced what we always knew: the right space can uplift your life.
Today, we bring our love for clean lines, layered textures, and intentional design to every project. We have children ranging from kindergarten to heading off to college, and appreciate how families evolve in their use of a space.
So whether it’s a full-scale remodel, a fresh new furniture layout, or simply the perfect finishing touches, our goal is always to create a home that works for you.
Why Hickory+Fern?
When choosing a name for our business, we wanted something personal yet reflective of our design philosophy.
Hickory+Fern comes from our initials, H and F, but it also represents what we believe makes a space truly feel like home: natural elements that bring warmth, life, and balance.
We love incorporating wood, plants, stone, glass, and other materials from the outside world into our designs. These elements make a home feel fresh, inviting, and comfortable, creating spaces that are not only beautiful but also grounded and livable and feels truly yours.
